Science Club: Mad Science-Gas Works, Wed, Sept 10th at 6pm
Welcome to another fantastic year at Franklin Elementary, and another year of the Franklin Science Club!
This year we will be kicking off the Franklin Science Club with: Mad Science! Gas Works. This outdoor event explores the mysterious world of gasses. Start off with a wacky flying balloon, a bottle of club soda, and a surprising carbon dioxide geyser! Things get exciting when balloons are filled with different gasses and held over a flame! Film canisters are launched into the air using Alka-Seltzer tablets and water. The event ends with water bottle rockets and "fire-powered" rockets!
WHAT: Mad Science! Gas Works
WHEN: Wednesday, September 10 at 6:00 PM
WHERE: Franklin Elementary on the black top
WHO: Open to ALL Students TK-5, no sign up needed
WHY: Because science is FUN!
All students must be supervised by a parent or guardian (ok for single parent to watch groups); no student drop offs. Please note that Gas Works is an exciting event that usually piques the wondrous minds of children, but safety is a top priority with rockets so please ensure they are ready to follow presenter directions at all times.
The FSC is a parent-organized and PTA sponsored club that hosts monthly STEM events for Franklin students (and parents!). The events are pre-scheduled and are listed on the PTA Calendar. Event topics and content vary from month to month, and we always welcome ideas and volunteers for future events!
Students who attend 5 FSC events and submit a Science Fair poster will receive recognition at the end of the year. 5th graders that have been recognized for this since Kindergarten get further recognition and a prize. You can get credit for events by signing in with the QR code at the event.
Let's start off the year with a bang!
