Every year, Franklin 5th graders help a worthy cause as they prepare for the bigger world after Franklin. This year, the chosen cause is helping homeless families through the Upward Bound House. Food donations will be collected in the front office on Monday, May 1 through Tuesday, May 16th.

Science Club is getting electrified and bringing WAYMO Self Driving Cars to Franklin on Wednesday, April 19th at 6 pM (1st week after Spring Break)
Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company. They are bringing their fully autonomous public ride-hailing service, Waymo One, to Franklin for the Science Club on Wednesday, April 19th at 6pm. During the presentation we will learn about the technology that allows the vehicle to navigate city streets with no driver! Students will have an opportunity to ask questions and get an up close look at the all electric Jaguar I-Pace that is equipped with Waymo technology. The presentation will be in the MPR (enter the campus by Cafetorium) and the demo vehicle will be on the Blacktop.

We had so much fun picking and packing our lettuce heads with the help of our awesome volunteer and Franklin alum - Margaret. The students loved sharing our leafy goodness with families and staff. The Other Art Fair
We are excited to announce that our very own Franklin Dad Matthew Farrar (twin boys Oscar and Oliver are in 1st grade!) will be exhibiting his beautiful photographic works at The Other Art Fair March 30th – April 2nd, Barkar Hangar, Santa Monica. This is a fantastic fair featuring 140 up-and-coming artists from all over the world. Art is affordable and fair is kid-friendly!

Franklin Wine Basket for the Santa Monica Ed Foundation
The Santa Monica Wine Auction, benefiting the Ed Foundation, takes place on Sunday, May 7th, and we are putting together a Franklin Wine Basket for the event’s silent auction! Please consider donating a bottle that has special meaning to you – your wedding wine, a winery you’ve visited, your favorite special occasion bottle, etc. The wine should be valued at $20 or more. Please attach a note with your “story of the wine” and sign the label, and then separately provide a brief description and the dollar value of the wine (this can be printed from the internet). Stephanie Sea our school’s Ed Foundation Liaison, will be happy to arrange for private pick-up/drop-off.
