Head Lice Found In Our Community
The presence of head lice has been identified in our community. While annoying, uncomfortable, and inconvenient, head lice are neither a health hazard nor a sign of poor hygiene, and lice are not responsible for the spread of any disease. Early identification of lice is essential to prevent spread and bacterial infection from itching. Parents are encouraged to perform a hair/scalp assessment at home. All members of the household should be checked for lice infestation. Once treated, check the scalp again 7 days later for live lice. Treatment may be applied again if needed.
Please check your child for lice.
If you discover live lice on your child:
1. Alert the Health Office
2. Begin treatment immediately
3. Have your child checked by the Health Office prior to returning to school
4. Please alert any groups or individuals who may have been exposed outside of the regular school day (after-care,
sports, extracurriculars, play dates, etc.)
