Dear Franklin Families,

Happy New Year!  I hope you all had a wonderful winter break filled with fun, relaxing and quality time with family and friends. On behalf of the entire staff, we are wishing our wonderful Franklin community a very happy and healthy 2026!

It has been terrific to see so many of you cheering on your children this week at our P.S. Arts Informances. We are beyond thrilled to have such a fantastic and high-quality art program. Thank you to all the SMMUSD parents for their contributions to SMMEF that funds our Franklin arts programs and makes them all possible! 

Moving from visual arts to performing arts… We are thrilled to have Soul of Cali kick off 2026 dancing with our 1st-3rd graders. Through imaginative storytelling, the PE/Dance program reveals to students the power of perseverance and open-minded curiosity by allowing them to tap into the mindset of “practice makes magic.” Each 30 minute session targets full body awareness, conditioning, coordination, focus, going with the flow, letting go, and having a blast! For 10 weeks, students will join forces with the music to unlock new power on the dance floor. In the original spirit of hip hop - peace, love, unity, and having fun! I think that one of our 2nd graders captured the enthusiasm when they told me; “I felt like I was being filled with energy and happiness!” 

Around the corner is TK/K Round Up on Thursday, January 22 at 8:00 am. Please help us reach out to neighbors who have preschool-age children and who live in our attendance area to RSVP on our PTA website. We look forward to a welcoming and wonderful morning with our incoming TK/K parents/guardians!
