Hello Parents, Teachers, and Friends of Franklin,
Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year! Whether you're a familiar face or brand new to the Franklin community, I’m so glad you’re here. A special warm welcome to our incoming TK and Kindergarten families—we’re excited to have you join the Franklin family.
Franklin is a truly special place—an incredible school filled with passionate teachers, dedicated staff, and an amazing administration. And one of the things that makes it shine even brighter is you—our parent community. Your energy, involvement, and commitment make a real difference. Our kids get one childhood. The difference between a good school experience and a great one is often the (busy) parents who stepped in to help. Volunteer, volunteer, volunteer.
For those I haven’t met yet, I’m Dara Beer, your PTA President. My husband and I have lived in Santa Monica for over a decade, and we feel so lucky to be raising our family here. We have four kids—three currently at Franklin in 1st, 3rd, and 5th grades, and our oldest is now thriving in middle school. I’ve been involved with the PTA for several years, and am excited to continue my Presidency for a second (and final) year.
If you haven’t already, I encourage you to become a PTA member—it’s just $11 per person. Membership gives you a vote on important decisions, helps fund essential programs, and shows your child that you value their education and community. Plus, it’s a great way to meet other families and stay connected. Our monthly meetings are open to all and are a great place to learn, share, and help shape our school.
This year, we’ll continue to support and grow beloved programs like the Science Club, Fair and Olympiad, Multicultural Fair, Book Fairs, Math Enrichment and Intervention, Field Trips, Parent Ed opportunities, Move-a-Thon, Movie Night and more. We also fund vital resources such as academic software, teacher grants, technology upgrades, assemblies, classroom supplies, and campus improvements.
