Dear Franklin Families,
We all loved hearing the words of wisdom from our 5th graders last Friday on Self-Discipline:  “It helps me keep myself in check, stay focused, and try my best. It helps me to be responsible for my own actions… Through self-discipline, I know how to do what is right in challenging circumstances… When we show self-discipline, our whole classroom learns more… Self-discipline has been an important part of my success at Franklin!” Self-Discipline is definitely part of what it takes to be a good dancer, and our 1st - 3rd grade students have been working hard and really enjoying dancing twice a week with Soul of Cali Dance Program during their PE times. We look forward to seeing families come and see them in their culminating dance performances on Friday, March 13th during their scheduled PE times; 1st grade – 10:30,  2nd grade – 2:00, 3rdgrade – 8:30. Please have your 1st – 3rd grader come dressed in all black. Any color sneakers are fine. Look forward to seeing you next week to cheer on our 1st – 3rd grade dancers!

As you know, many schools in SMMUSD are undergoing construction projects for new classrooms and buildings. Exciting times are ahead... it is now Franklin’s turn to begin a multi-year project to add new TK and K classrooms, a new staff parking lot, a new field, and much more in years to come. They will begin working at Franklin on June 12, 2026, the day after school is out for the summer. Please join the SMMUSD Director of Facilities and his team, as they explain the multi-year plan and all of the phases of construction at a Franklin Town Hall Meeting on Tuesday, March 17 at 6:30 pm.
