Dear Franklin Families,

It was nice to see so many of you at our all-school assembly this morning as we recognized and celebrated many of our TK – 5th grade students, who have been doing an outstanding job demonstrating Responsibility!  AND thank you to some of our amazing 5th graders who volunteered to step up to the mic and introduce our new Franklin core value of Self-Discipline. We all loved hearing about their stories over the years of how self-discipline has helped them reach admirable goals throughout their years at Franklin. Listening to meaningful reflections and advice from our 5th graders helps to continually build our vibrant Franklin community!  Ms. Pickett and I look forward to reading some fun books on Self-Discipline to classrooms over the next month; Tenacious Won’t Give Up, Clark the Shark, Firekeeper’s Son, and Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse. We encourage you to look for opportunities to have meaningful conversations with your children at home around examples of self-discipline and please take some trips to the library to search out and choose your own books that illustrate self-discipline!

Our whole school enjoyed two very special celebrations this week… We loved seeing the TK students create and perform their Lunar New Year Parade around the Franklin hallways on Monday! Our parent-led Art Cart during lunch time also had some wonderful Lunar New Year crafts that our students thoroughly enjoyed! AND yesterday, we all loved the amazing Black History Celebration Assemblies that our staff and students organized in the most fabulous, authentic and creative way… their poetry readings were outstanding!
